Lagging of Republic of Croatia to EU average according to several socio-economic indicator is often emphasized. However, significant regional differences exist also on internal level. The differences on local and regional level are most clear and visible when presented by maps. Selection of maps that can help in recognizing existing unbalances is available bellow.

In some cases, datasets are presented more than once (different colors, different division of data in groups). Maps published within texts in this webpage are also repeated here. Most of the maps contain legend and explanation in Croatia only, however captions are written in English.

- maps of areas defined by acts or subordinate legislation (hilly-mountainous areas, areas of special state concern, NUTS 2 regions),
- maps related to development index and assisted areas,
- maps with demographic data on local (municipalities and towns) and regional (county) level,
- maps with socio-economic indicators of which many were used for calculation of development index at local (municipalities and towns) and regional (county) level.

Shown data are available for free from public sources (such as Croatian Bureau of Statistics, Ministry of regional development and EU funds, Official Gazette...).
Author of the maps tranfer all rights in line with CC0 to Public Domain (https://creativecommons.org/choose/zero/) by placing the "Public Domain" mark bellow maps which enables free use of materials with or without referencing to this webpage. Only limitation is that the user can not sign himself as the author since the maps are already transferred to public domain.

Free shapefile did not include municipalities: Funtana, Pribislavec, Kamanje, Tribunj, Bilice, Lopar, Tar-Vabriga, Kolan, Vrsi i Štitar (covering 0,42% of Croatian territory) and author apologize to the population of these local units for that. Therefore it is advisable to use the maps for informative purpose when general overview is needed.
