basic terms and explanations
For persons with no previous experience with state administration and those not familiar with territorial organisation of the Republic of Croatia, here are few useful notes and abbreviations:
EU = European Union
DI = Development index (Croatian abbreviation = IR)
Regional self-government units = counties= NUTS 3 regions (20 counties and City of Zagreb in Republic of Croatia); (Croatian abbreviation = JP(R)S)
Local self-government units = municipalities and towns = LAU 2 units (128 towns and 428 municipalities, including City of Zagreb); (Croatian abbreviation = JLS)
Croatian abbreviation for local and regional self-government units = JP(R)LS
OG = Official Gazette; official journal of the Republic of Croatia in which laws, subordinate legislation and strategies are published (Croatian abbreviation = NN)
NUTS 2 regions = spatial 2nd level statistical units (in Croatia, there are two NUTS 2 regions - Continental Croatia (Kontinentalna Hrvatska) with 14 counties and Adriatic Croatia (Jadranska Hrvatska) with 7 counties)
MRDEUF = Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, responsible for regional development since 2011 (Croatian abbreviation = MRRFEU)
RoC = Republic of Croatia (Croatian abbreviation = RH)
SRDRoC= Strategy of Regional Development of the Republic of Croatia (Croatian abbreviation = SRRRH)
Act, Strategy, Ministry (with Capital letter) - in most cases refers to act/strategy/ministry mentioned in same or previous sentence. If there is no mentioning of any similar term, refers to Act on Regional Development of the Republic of Croatia (OG 147/14), Strategy of Regional Development of the Republic of Croatia or Ministry or Regional Development and EU Funds
