In May 1999 ministers responsible for spatial planing adopted the document which is today considered as originator of common approach to spatial planning and more balanced regional development in EU. Document recognized needs defined already in 1994 for:
In May 1999 ministers responsible for spatial planing adopted the document which is today considered as originator of common approach to spatial planning and more balanced regional development in EU. Document recognized needs defined already in 1994 for:
- development of a polycentric and balanced urban system and strengthening of the partnership between urban and rural areas;
- promotion of integrated transport and communication concepts, which support the polycentric development of the EU territory;
- development and conservation of the natural and the cultural heritage through wise management contributing to preservation of regional identity and natural and cultural diversity of European cities and regions
