Development level of individual area is not easy to define and making comparison to other area is even more complicated. In same cases, development is described with simple economic indicators such as gross national product or income per capita. Although simple, this approach can indicate existence of significant unbalances. Designing indexes for measuring development can be based on large number of individual indicators or on few most important ones that provide realistic picture. In same cases, perceptive or subjective indicators are also included. Also, in same cases all indicators are calculated as equally important (and have the same share in final index) while in others some indicators are treated as more important.
